A Letter From Jerry Marchelletta

Thursday 5th of May 2011

Dear Friends,

Thank you for taking the time to find this site where you have undoubtedly come to get some additional information on our plight and what we have been up against the last 10 years.  Quite simply, it’s been hard enough trying to operate a business and keep our employees working in this economy the last several years, but the circumstances surrounding us with regard to the legal odyssey we have been through as well as the Southeastern Carpenters Union extremely aggressive campaign have made it nearly impossible.  Nonetheless, we’re still here, we’re still fighting, and ultimately, we’re winning.

This site will give you a brief glimpse of what we have been up against and I encourage you to peruse it at your leisure.  There is a blog attached to it for your comments should you choose to want to make one.  We thought it was important to get our side of the story out there as we found that taking the “high road” and concentrating on what we do best – providing a stable home for our employees while delivering world class interiors on projects throughout the country – was in reality not effective as people weren’t aware of what was really going on and only had someone else’s point of view to reflect on.  Our business invariably suffered and in turn, so have our employees.  From a personal standpoint, the reputations my father and I have built over the course of 60 and 30 years respectively through hard work and fair, honest business dealings have been savagely misrepresented and in many instances, decimated unfairly.  In any event, they never scratched the surface of our dignity or our integrity and they never will.

For those of you who have stuck by us in these tremendously difficult times, we will never forget it nor will we allow anyone at Circle to do so.  You have been our lifeblood as we have had to fend off one attack after another.

That being said, I want to make it perfectly clear that we love our country and the opportunities presented to us simply by being fortunate enough to have been born here.  This remains one of the few places on the planet that you can rise above the status of your birth through hard work, determination and of course, some luck.  My father began his career as a grocery store clerk at the age of 12 to help support his widowed mother and some years later, left the deli counter to become a carpenter.  His career in construction culminated with becoming Executive Vice President and a Principal at one of the largest Specialty Contractors the country has ever known.  He earned it.  I worked under his tutelage from an early age as well and in 1993 struck out on my own to make my own way.  Our firm was built from outcasts and throwaways from several local companies who had never been given a chance to do something special before.  Together, we made and continue to make history.  In 2000, my father retired and we were joined together again as he moved to be near his grandchildren.  Being a part of The Circle Group along with several other members of my family has been one of the greatest experiences of my life, and we have no regrets about any of it.  Nobody in my family has ever taken the easy path and we are not about to start now.

We are not protesting our government nor are we trying to make any kind of a political statement.  We are however fighting for what is right as well as our own liberty.  This is still going to take some time and we are working within the confines of our very complex legal system.  Thankfully, our great country affords such a system of appeals to rectify errors and as it stands now, our case has been closed and all prior convictions have either been invalidated or reversed outright to acquittal.  Our desire to return to some sense of normalcy and maintaining our freedom notwithstanding, it is important to us that those who perpetrated these acts be held accountable.  We’ve seen firsthand what a few rotten apples can do to ordinary citizens, and it is nothing short of horrifying.

In closing, thank you once again for seeking out this site and for taking the time to read what I had to say.  We genuinely appreciate your continued support as we look forward to the day that we can put this all behind us.  In the meantime, everyone at The Circle Group will continue to do all that we can to provide you with the best possible performance for your projects, delivering them on time with the highest standards of professionalism in the industry.  Count on it and count on us.

With highest regards,

Jerry Marchelletta
